FLORA-DA-SCOPE
2021 | Mixed Media LED Kaleidoscope | 6′ x 2′ x 6′
ALEX KAUFMAN x ALEISHA PRATHER x GEORGE RETKES

Flora-Da-Scope is an immersive, six-foot kaleidoscopic sculpture that transforms light, color, and reflection into an ever-changing visual experience. Inspired by the vibrant colors and natural beauty of Florida, the installation invites visitors to peer into a mesmerizing world of geometric patterns and infinite reflections.
Constructed with carefully arranged mirrored surfaces and 300 individually addressable LEDs, the sculpture creates a continuously evolving interplay of color, symmetry, and movement. As light travels between the mirrors, seemingly simple elements multiply into complex, otherworldly compositions.
Blurring the boundaries between art, science, and play, Flora-Da-Scope celebrates curiosity and discovery, inviting viewers to become active participants in an experience where the familiar becomes extraordinary.
THE ROOM OF IRIDESCENCE
2022 | Acrylic + Aluminum Installation [TEMPORARY] | 11′ x 11′ x 11′

The Room of Iridescence is an immersive installation that transforms light, color, and reflection into an otherworldly spatial experience. Constructed from iridescent acrylic panels and aluminum framing, the room invites visitors to step inside an environment where the boundaries between architecture, sculpture, and perception begin to dissolve.
As light passes through the translucent surfaces, shimmering colors shift and change with the viewer’s perspective. The mirrored interior creates an illusion of infinite space, transforming a simple geometric structure into an expansive, kaleidoscopic world.
Blurring the line between physical reality and optical illusion, The Room of Iridescence explores the playful relationship between light, material, and human perception. The installation encourages curiosity, wonder, and a momentary escape from the ordinary.

THE TOWER OF IRIDESCENCE
2022 + 2024 | Acrylic + Aluminum Installation [TEMPORARY] | 22′ x 8’Ø

The Tower of Iridescence is a monumental, interactive installation that explores the relationship between light, color, architecture, and human perception. Its shimmering, iridescent surfaces transform with the movement of the sun and the changing perspective of the viewer, creating an ever-evolving interplay of color and reflection.
Designed as both a sculptural landmark and an immersive experience, the tower invites visitors to engage with their surroundings in unexpected ways. By day, its translucent surfaces capture and refract natural light into a shifting spectrum of vibrant colors. By night, artificial illumination brings the structure to life, transforming it into a luminous beacon of wonder and discovery.
The Tower of Iridescence debuted at Suwannee Hulaween in 2022, a music and arts festival welcoming approximately 40,000 attendees, before traveling to Love Burn in Miami in 2024, an immersive arts gathering of approximately 10,000 participants. Across these two events, the installation became part of a larger celebration of creativity, community, and shared experience.
Blurring the boundaries between sculpture and architecture, the Tower of Iridescence celebrates the transformative power of art to turn temporary spaces into extraordinary places.
